Hiking along the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape. The most strenuous but the most beautiful trail, adjacent to the shoreline. 280km or 25 days. The trail is divided into five 3-6 day sections and you can choose the section that suits you best.

Hiking Trails on the Wild Coast

  • Hole in the Wall Hiking Trail
    This exciting new trail covers an untamed area regarded by many as the Eden of the Wild Coast. Characterised by swathes of sandy beaches criss-crossed by estuaries and mangrove swamps, majestic cliffs and grassy hilltops - this route offers a new dimension to coastal hiking.
  • Wild Coast Meander
    This unique Trail offers you the opportunity to walk a section of our magnificent Wild Coast. The area that the hike covers is a nature lovers paradise, with access so limited that the only way to see the majority of the coastline is to hike. You will encounter long lonely beaches, river estuaries teeming with marine life, river fauna, majestic views. Experience peaceful tranquillity that is unsurpassed.
  • Wild Coast Amble
    This exiting hiking trail along the southern section of the Cape Wild Coast takes you along a beautiful coastline over headlands and along sandy beaches with breathtaking views. Enjoy a wide variety of bird & marine life whilst collecting shells along pristine stretches of beach. The terrain is moderate and the distance covers 56km over the 5 days. Each night you will be comfortably accommodated at unique venues along the way.
  • Wild Coast Pondo Walk
    This 5 night, 4 days hiking trail along the northern wild coast is a true wilderness trail. The northern region is rugged, with towering cliffs, deep ravines, pristine little bays, forest and spectacular waterfalls, because of the remoteness of this section, you cannot walk from one hotel to the next. Accommodation is therefore provided at one resort, Mbotyi River Lodge. Hikers walk for 4 days, with a day pack only, along different scenic routes, accompanied by a trained local guide. Relax nightly in the comfort of this beautiful new resort, with your every need catered for.
  • Strandlooper
    The trail covers long stretches of beaches, walking over headlands and rocky sections. The distance is 55.5km from Kei Mouth to Gonubie along the coastline.
  • Three Sisters Hiking Trail
    This 5 night guided luxury hiking trail starts at the spectacular Woody Cape in the Eastern Cape. Woody Cape is the coastal area around Alexandria, some 130 km northeast of Port Elizabeth and 170 km south east of East London. The Addo Elephant park has been extended down to the coast of Woody Cape, it is remote with wide sandy beaches, towering sand dunes and massive waves pounding the coast.
  • Diaz Cross Trail
    This trails starts at Port Alfred, hikers can drive to Port Alfred where safe parking will be provided for vehicles or you will be collected from the nearest airport.
