Description

Flanked by the Zuurberg Mountains, the RiverBend Lodge is situated within the private Nyati concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Comprising some 14 000 hectares of unspoilt malaria-free African bushveld which is home to Africa’s Big Five, RiverBend Lodge embraces five natural biomes and the variety in the flora and fauna found here is extremely diverse.

At the RiverBend Lodge, you can watch herds of Elephants feeding a short distance away, listen to the songs of some 300 bird species, enjoy a personalized game drive into the nearby mountains and discover varying vegetation from thick forested valleys, open savannah plains to hillsides rich in Fynbos.

Enjoy plentiful game activities guided by professional guides who will take you on adventurous game drives and who will reveal the fascinating history of this revitalized wilderness.

Children of all ages are welcome at the RiverBend Lodge in the Addo Elephant National Park. Various activities are on offer including a playroom where hours of fun can be had. The team at the RiverBend Lodge is geared towards every need and children will be taken on walks with their guide, baking biscuits with the chef or doing mini treatments with the Beauty Therapist. Should children decide not to join a game drive or dinner, the lodge provides trained child minders to take care of them while the parents can relax and enjoy the beauty of the Addo Elephant National Park and make use of the luxury facilities at RiverBend Lodge. A specially designed kiddies menu of all-time favourites forms part of the commitment to ensuring a pleasant stay for all guests.

Nestled around beautifully landscaped gardens, the spacious suites at the RiverBend Lodge provide endless views of untamed Africa. From the suite, a short stroll along a scenic garden path will take you to the lounge and dining areas. Guests are able to relax at the poolside, enjoy a late afternoon high tea on the terrace, or sip a cocktail in the Polo Bar.  Alternatively the Private Safari Villa can accommodate up to 6 guests and is ideal for families or small groups.

All the suites at RiverBend Lodge are air conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, electronic safes, mini bar, satellite TV, DVD player, hair dryer and bathroom on suite with bath and shower.

Cuisine

Executive chef Adriaan van Niekerk

The cuisine at RiverBend is the perfect fusion of traditional European food and Pan-African fare.

Matched with an award-winning wine list, a meal at RiverBend is a gastronomic experience. Executive chef Adriaan van Niekerk believes that dining should be an experience, not simply fulfilling a desire to eat. "My guests have the option of choosing from a café-style A'la Carte menu for a leisurely and relaxed lunch, to a 7-course dinner experience that would please the most sensitive of connoisseurs."

Meals are not restricted to the dining-room and guests are encouraged to make use of one of the verandahs or to arrange a packed picnic to enjoy on a game drive. Candle-lit dinners in the privacy of your suite are arranged for a truly romantic treat.
