Description

The reserve has 140 Hectares of coastal thicket and Fynbos with 900m of rocky coastline on the South coast of the Western Cape.

A wide variety of veld flowers belonging to the Cape floral kingdom can be found. Many medium sized mammals are present in and among the fynbos. The local bird population allows fascinating bird watching. Accomodation is provided in two self catering chalets, as well as bed and breakfast facilities in the main guest house. The chalets are situated on the waters edge in exclusive and private surroundings and the guest house is in the centre of the reserve.

This guest house is situated in the centre of the reserve where one wakes up to the song of birds like the bokmakierie. The house serves as a base for excellent bird watching. Bed and full English breakfast is provided and can be enjoyed in this Provence styled dwelling. Guests are accomodated in two luxury bedrooms, both ensuite with private entrances from the courtyard where braai facilities are available. An evening meal of South African cuisine can be served by arrangement. Jongensgat Bed and Breakfast was rated by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa in 2004 and given four stars.

If you want the quiet and seclution of the country side while enjoying the convenience of all the facilities of home, Jongensgat is the place to be. If you are interested in the Cape Floral Kingdom you will find the mosaik of Fynbos with the Coastal thicket on Jongensgat. Fishing on the rocks within shouting distance from your front varanda is posable. The chalets are situated on the 11 Km walking trail between Jongensfontein and Stilbaai. The seserve is also criscrossed by footpaths
Guesthouse is situated in the centre of the reserve within walking distance to the sea.

Accommodation

The larger chalet comprises three double bedrooms with main en suite and a second bathroom for the other two. The second chalet has two double bedrooms, sharing a bathroom.

The Chalets are fully equiped including bedding and towels, but bring your own swimming towels please. Braai facility is available, but you need to bring your own fire wood. For small children (<2yrs) no charge is levied provided own bedding is supplied. Bedding can be obtained from us at a nominal charge of R25. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed. Anglers should provide bait from outside since nothing is allowed to be taken from the inter tidal zone.

Self-catering chalets on the waters edge. The setting is private and secluded.. During whale season these mammals play only a stone throw away. Swimming can be enjoyed in several tidal pools. Several hiking trails are available from which fynbos and its fauna can be observed.
