Description

We are situated in the beautiful Langkloof Valley between the Garden Route and the Klein Karoo in South Africa's Western Cape Province. Come and spend time with us!

We offer the perfect setting, whether you are looking for adventure or simply want to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain views.

Set within a conservancy area, Williamsburg Mountain Reserve is a haven for birding enthusiasts as well as those wishing to relax in the tranquil setting. Explore the hiking trails on foot or mountain bike, fly fish for trout, or drive the highly acclaimed 4x4 routes.

Williamsburg Mountain Reserve is situated 12 km off the N9 between George and Uniondale. We can also be reached via the scenic Prince Alfred Pass from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

We are in a cul-de-sac valley and offer spectacular views of the surrounding Outeniqua mountains. The farm receives rain throughout the year with an annual rainfall of 550mm. The winter nights are cold with temperatures dipping below 10°C, while the summer days are hot and sunny. The coolest months are from May to August.

Visitors can enjoy a working farm environment or take one of the many walking trails through indigenous forests or into the mountains to explore the acres of unspoiled fynbos. Guests should be on the lookout for some of the wildlife which include springbok, klipspringer, duiker, grey rhebok, dassies, baboons, bushpig, porcupine, leopard and caracal.

Williamsburg offers a unique trout fishing experience. Our dams are well stocked and are set in pristine wilderness. We offer trout fishing at it's best - good fishing, complete solitude and a tranquil environment.

Birding is very special on Williamsburg Mountain Reserve, and is a favorite destination for the keen ornithologist, with well over 150 species identified, including several rare birds. Many of the birds being endemic to the area. Expect to see the Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cape Sugarbird, Victorin's Warbler and Cape Rockjumper. Arrangements can be made for guests to be expertly guided to the best birding spots on the farm as well as in the immediate area.

Williamsburg Mountain Reserve is part of the Middle Keurboom's Conservancy. We are passionate about our land and the protection of our fauna and flora. Over the years we have seen a steady increase of our wild friends and now it is common to see small herds of bushbuck, vaal ribbok and even a group of porcupines shuffling along. Since we first took residence in this beautiful valley we have actively tackled the invading alien plants. Today most are in retreat, while wattle is only found alongside the Keurbooms River. The protection and planting of indigenous plants is ongoing and today many of the trees that made this place so special can again be found on Williamsburg.

Another way to explore the farm is by mountain bike or pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the rock pools or picnic spots.

Our spacious two bedroomed fully equipped Cape cottages can each accommodate four people. In addition both cottages have sleeper couches.

One of our main attractions are our 4x4 trails, acclaimed by Drive Out magazine as "isolated escapism at it's best" and "If Williamsburg were a golf course, it would be something like St Andrews or Pebble Beach - challenging, scenic and ... well, just special".

We invite you to come and relax and admire the beautiful scenery in a tranquil setting.

Accommodation

We offer two well appointed cottages set 500m apart for privacy. Each cottage has individual features. Both cottages can accommodate four people comfortably, with linen, towels and wood provided. Guests can enjoy a cosy fireplace on those cold Karoo evenings or take in the magic of the peaceful surroundings whilst making use of the private braai facilities.
