The luxurious 31-roomed Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is a graceful landmark, built in 1846, overlooking Santos Bay and harbour. Nestling on the Mossel Bay shoreline with the majestic Outeniqua mountains as a backdrop, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is singled out from other establishments.

The stone walls and Mediterranean-style out-buildings belie the fact that the main building is one of the oldest in Mossel Bay and forms part of the Dias Museum Complex. Previously The Old Post Office Tree Manor Hotel, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay, situated off Santos beach, could best be described as a hotel complex.

It is home to the well known Café Gannet Restaurant-Mossel Bay’s Seafood House. Enjoy sundowners at the Blue Oyster Pool Lounge, which overlooks the pool and beaches.

The hotel complex comprises of 31 units. Designer decorated accommodation units vary from 3 star en-suite rooms to 4 star self catering harbour suites, The rooms' various categories range from standard, family and harbour to presidential suites.

All units are spacious and well appointed with all modern amenities, including TV, direct dial telephones, radio clock, hairdryer, fans and/or air-conditioning, as well as tea/coffee making facilities. This, together with superb sea views, offers an extremely comfortable stay.

4 Star graded Self-catering Suites
Harbour Suites have a modern lounge equipped with TV, Hi-fi and DVD, two bedrooms (main with kingsize bed, second with two twin beds), a fully equipped kitchen and dining area with bar area and a balcony overlooking the Santos Beach, harbour and yacht club.

Protea Hotel Mossel Bay's trendy restaurant, Cafe Gannet, offers an exciting and truly inviting a la carte menu 7 days a week. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, specialties include fresh Mossel Bay Mussels, sole and wild coastal oysters. Daily specials 'with a difference' are also a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike. Enjoy relaxed alfresco dining, in the afternoon, with the Gannet's light lunch menu.

LOCATION:

This seaside hotel is situated in close proximity to shopping facilities, the yacht club, harbour and north-facing, sun splashed beaches (only 50m from the main swimming beach). It is an easy 2 min walk to the harbour and town centre. Free entry to the Dias Museum. As part of the museum complex, the Maritime, Local History and Shell Museum, as well as the Old Post Office Tree, are all within strolling distance. The new golf estate is 2km away and the airport a 20 minute drive.

FROM CAPE TOWN Take N2 to Mossel Bay. Continue straight on with N2 and becomes R102 - Louis Fourie Rd. After 3rd traffic light, take left off-ramp to Mossel Bay into Marsh Street. At first Traffic light turn right into Marsh Street; Continue downhill. At the corner of Marsh and Church Street traffic lights, turn left into Church Street. Cnr of Church and George Rd traffic lights continue straight ahead. At the following 4-way stop, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is in front, on the left corner. Reception in yellow building. FROM PORT ELIZABETH Take N2 to Mossel Bay. Take left off ramp to Mossel Bay - at first Yield sign, turn left. 1st Traffic light turn right into Louis Fourie Rd (Shell garage on left). Continue straight on Louis Fourie, passing 2 more traffic lights. Turn left at the intersection marked George Rd, approx 2km from last traffic light. Cnr of Church and George Str traffic light, turn left (FNB on left). At the following 4-way stop, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is in front, on the left corner. Reception in yellow building. FROM OUDTSHOORN: Take the R328 out of Oudtshoorn towards the N2, follow Mossel Bay signs. Continue on this road over the mountains and down to Hartenbos. Pass Hartenbos on the left. Continue straight road turns into Louis Fourie. Turn left at the intersection marked George Rd. Cnr of Church and George Str traffic light, turn left. FNB on left. At the following 4-way stop, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is in front, on the left corner. Reception in yellow building.
